Are you ready to learn about the top roofing SEO keywords?
Knowing what keywords search engine user are typing into Google and Bing is the first step building a website that will dominate the first page of the search engine results page. Not correctly analyzed the big data and search trends can be a costly mistake, a mistake that can cost you thousands of leads and leave you extremely frustrated with the lack of results.
The two types of failure regarding keyword research
The first failure is not conducting any keyword analysis, not doing your research is like firing a rifle in the dark. You have everything prepared, you have your gun loaded, and you blindly pull the trigger hoping your target. The same goes for website optimization, you can have an expensive website and the fastest servers, but if you don’t shine some light on the keyword data, you are flying blind.
The second failure is conducting your keyword research, but not understanding the data and not looking for the opportunities. Now imagine that you are on a hunt, and you see that prize buck, and you have it in your sights, you have worked all year for the moment, and you think everything is all right. You slowly squeeze the trigger, but your aim was three inches high because your sights are off. The same is true with keyword research, you have to make sure that your aim is right and that you are targeting the correct keywords that drive traffic to your website.
Are you ready to Dig Deep into the data?
The purpose of this post is to give you a head start on your keyword research and help you get your roofing website off on the right foot.
There are five main keyword groups that I found to have the most search volume nationally. Each of these keyword groups has the five most searched for keywords. If you own or manage a roofing website you should at a minimum target these five keyword groups.
roof contractors + your city
roofing companies + your city
roofers + your city
roof repairs + your city
roof replacements + your city
When I analyzed these keywords, I researched the average search volume per month and the average regional cost per click.
One thing that stands out immediately in the data is that the plural forms of the root keywords are searched for more than 400% more than the singular forms. It can be concluded that it may be best to use the plural form for your keywords.
The keyword “Roofing Contractors” is one of the most search for roofing terms that search engine users are using to find roofing services. One interesting thing about the data is that roofing contractors are searched for 25 more times than roof contractor yet cost $10 less per click. The keyword Roof Contractor is the most expensive AdWord in this data set.
The second most search for keyword is “roofing companies.” What I found with this keyword is that a lot of searches happening with geotag modifiers, such as Roofing Companies Atlanta. On your website’s home page I would optimize for both roofing companies and roofing contractors, and do not separate pages for both.
The keyword “roof repair” has an average search volume of 12,100 and an average regional cost per click of $16.90. The roof repair keyword group gets an average of 31,300 searches per month with a mean cost per click of $14.93.
When I run AdWords campaigns for clients, I can confirm that clicks for roof repair terms range from about $12 – $17.
In reality, there are so many good long tail keywords for roof repairs that you should be targeting with blog and video post. The sky is the limit for this term. You can and should create great content about hail damage repairs, water damage, tree limb damage, and on-and-on.
The keyword “Roofers” is an extremely general term and has a search volume blue trend line is very similar to roofing companies and roofing contractors. This tells us that the key term roofers in the plural form should be your target. Add “roofers in +Your City” to your keyword list and interchange this keyword with roofing contractors and roofing companies in marketing materials.
The “roof replacement” keyword group had the lowest search volume of the data set, and the related terms have a lot to do with the cost/price of a new roof. What this tells me is that when people are looking for a new roof, they are wanting to know much it is going to cost and if they can do the work themselves. When you write content about roof replacements, new roofs, and roof installations, you need to be including information about cost and prices ranges. People are looking for this information, and if you can give it to them, you will get a huge boost in traffic and set roofing company up as a subject matter expert.
